rundown on what i'm taking everyday
GNC WOMEN'S ULTRA MEGA ACTIVE - My daily multivitamin of choice. Contains everything a quality adult multivitamin should have, and some (I love it!)

Gingko biloba - memory, libido
Green tea extract - metabolism (works for suppressing appetite, also)
Alpha-lipoic acid - antioxidant
Silica - hair
Lycopene another antioxidant

and more!

bottom line: I feel healthy and energized, and it's a time release formula so it continues to kick in throughout the day. The green tea also keeps my appetite under control.

FISH OIL CAPSULES - Fish oil is rich in omega-3's and good fats, contributing to lower cholesterol levels, and to weight loss, for example. Great too for concentration, & hair, skin, nails. Also helps people with ADHD-type symptoms (the reason why I could never concentrate for long in school), and improved mood. (info)

bottom line: Noticeable improvement in my hair's moisture retention (as a matter of fact when I stopped taking this for couple weeks, my hair went bone dry). My nails grew faster and healthier. My skin glowwwed. Also, when I'm taking these on a regular basis I can concentrate a lot better at work. Especially with reading (not having to go back & read lines again because I started daydreaming)! My mood improved immediately, I just felt really good and healthy. Side note: freeze these if you don't want a case of the 'fish burps!'

VITAMIN B COMPLEX - 61638.html
---

VITAMIN B-6 (50mg) Provides energy and boosts metabolism. Also alleviates anxiety. (info)

bottom line: I pop one of these whenever I need an energy boost or when I need to buckle down at work. These are relatively inexpensive, also; I got them at CVS for less than $4/100 tablets.
---

ST. JOHN'S WORT - An effective over-the-counter solution for people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression symptoms (info)

bottom line: It WORKS. A friend told me about them; his dad suffers from depression and recommended them. My friend tried them, and his usual irritability and pessimism just disappeared. Trust me, that's saying a lot. I tried them (I have moderate anxiety) and my anxiety completely went away. The only thing that has ever done so for me. St. John's wort makes me feel good, positive, and calm. Highly recommended. (but do NOT take this if you're already on antidepressants or any MAOI inhibitor, OR if you are on any medication, or illicit drugs [meth, coke, etc])

I believe in finding a combination of vitamins and supplements that work for you. Being that I'm concerned with maintaining a healthy metabolism, staying trim, looking good, and keeping my anxiety/depression under wraps, this combo works quite nicely for me. That, and I enjoy keeping my body in tip-top shape (along with a balanced diet and regular exercise). Remember to drink plenty of water and eat regularly when taking any supplements. Because I dislike swallowing pills (the aftertaste >:-0), I like to drink them down with my morning smoothies (just don't blend them in with your smoothie, it'll taste gross).

Comments or suggestions? Please! :)

Another word on St John's Wort: it interacts with birth control pills.

I'm all about my vitamins. Right now I'm taking a one-a-day weight smart vitamin (with green tea), quercetin (a natural anti-histamine---I no longer have to take traditional seasonal allergy meds), milk thistle (improves liver function which then improves your acne and allergies), and then biotin!

I need milk thistle! I have allergies real bad & for liver function also...I notice an undesirable difference in my skin when i'm not drinking a lot of water, sounds like it would help!

Thanks for that :)

hi,

Just a quick question:

So you take all of these everyday at the same time? No interactions/side effects, etc.?
I just want to make sure because I'm thinking of doing the same.

Thanks in advance!

Yes. Give or take a few if I forget or don't feel like taking one of them. No interactions or side effects for me.

if you want to splurge on a fish oil supplement i highly recommned the omega 3-6-9 capsules sold at the vitamin shoppe. i love them, they have made all the diffference in my hair and skin ( i can't really tell with my nails as i nibble them down to stubs on a regular basis :\). i think i may have to add B Vitamins to my collection of supplements, i could use an energy boost, i'm taking stats and organic chemistry this summer....

copy & pasted this.

however, i did read that you should take "whole food supplements" instead of vitamins. naturalcures.com has some really good information, don't pay just browse through.

I almost bought the GNC Ultra Womens Vitamins strictly for the folic acid but for some odd reason I never bought them. I'm taking Acidphilous, its like eating 100 yogurts a day which is really good for your bladder. As for the silica, is it helping your hair grow or is it just feels healthier? I'm obessessed with growing my hair out, so I just wanted to know.

Its a trivial amount of silica. I used GNC Hair, Skin, & Nails for my hair, and also fish oil. My hair grew in a lot thicker and faster (you'll need touch-ups more often)

I'm going to try the St. John's Wort. I have mild anxiety, and I think it'll be a healthy solution for it. I'm also going to try the Fish Oil Capsules. Thanks for the review on everything! <333

Watch out for the Ginki Biloba, too. It works by thinning your blood so it moves a little faster and gets to your brain (a proposed mechanism).

Anyway, the drug when taken daily is a blood thinner much like warfarin. So if you cut yourself and you stop bleeding alot slower than normal, that might be a problem. You'll also have severe clotting problems if you get into an acciddent.

Advise: Keep a small card in your wallet saying what medications you're on, even herbals. Alot of herbals may induce or inhibit the metabolism of the drugs they may or may not give you in the hospital.

:)

All are neat drugs, but just be careful!

Im not sure how I found your journal. I think it may have been in the Columbus commuinity. I got fish oil today. I have never tried the GNC for hair, skin and nails. Do you think they work well together?

I don't know about antidepressants, I don't trust them, I know people who are in addiction treatment because of them. I think the best way to get rid of your anxiety or even depression is a good eating regime and a good therapist.
